Two new shows have just been announced for Bongeziwe Mabandla’s sold-out South African tour.

A third date (November 16th) has been added to Mabandla’s slate of Johannesburg appearances at The Lyric Theatre.

Already Mabandla’s November tour is among the fastest selling of a solo contemporary South African artist.

When the first round of tickets went on sale, the demand was intense, with an opening online queue of 4 000 people, causing the site to temporarily crash. According to Quicket, an incredible total of 751.66K fans came online for tour tickets, creating some initial problems which have now been resolved for a smooth ticketing experience for all.

These are the last live dates Mabandla will be doing in 2021. The shows will see him performing with Tiago Correia-Paulo, who produced Iimini – one of 2020’s most critically acclaimed South African releases which was recently named Best Alternative Album at the 2021 South African Music Awards (SAMAs).

Iimini is also the subject of an ongoing series of remixes including Muzi’s remix of “Mini esadibana ngayo” and DJ Lag’s remix of “Ndiyakuthanda (12.4.19)”. Up next is a gorgeous remix of “Zange” by Guatemalan artist Mose.
