Bassline returns with a legendary collaboration!

Bassline Live at The Lyric Theatre returns on Friday 2nd September 2022, with a legendary collaboration:  Award winning DJ and Producer Sun El Musician with Ofentse Pitse, the first African woman conductor, and her Anchored Sound 10-piece orchestra and female vocal quartet. Add into the mix guest artists friends Msaki and Simmy and the evening at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City is set to be a hit!

“Bassline thanks Music in Africa Foundation grant for supporting the live music industry ecosystem, by awarding proceeds to support this project. “We are so excited to be presenting this collaboration at a time where we are back to full houses for the first time in 2 and a half years. What a way to celebrate!” Says Brad Holmes, Bassline Founder.

For Sun El Musician “It’s always been a dream of mine to showcase my music in an orchestra show, it’s such an honor to be part of such an amazing platform.”

This showcase will feature Sun El Musician behind his decks, musically supported by a 10-piece orchestra ensemble, as well as a female vocal quartet from Anchored Sound, and the voices of award-winning singer-songwriters Msaki and Simmy, celebrating women as we exit Women’s month and enter the birth of Spring.

The repertiore will feature some of Sun-El’s most loved and celebrated compositions such as “Qamata, Sonini”, “ubomi abumanga”, as well as “Into ingawe”. All orchestrated to showcase the magic and versatility of South African music and mastery.

Ofentse Pitse is a creative visionary who aims to create a dominant landmark of African expression in classical space, and beyond. With that being at the heart of her artistic music expression, the exploration of creating an artistic mastery with celebrated music genius, Sun-El musician, would not only be important as a showcase of how the two worlds of classic and mainstream music can be married; but also, a celebration of the magic of South African polyrhythms.

So, it is also culturally important and relevant for the commercialization of indigenous culture.”
